Formulas

how do you link different sheets

Edited on Tue 18 Mar 2008, 10:11

RE: formulas

Hi Hash, Thanks for the post, Welcome to the forum, in answer to your question, this is quite a simple thing to do, in the sheet (Sheet1) active cell that you wish to have the link, place an equals sign (=) and then change to the sheet (Sheet2) you wish to link to using the tabs at the foot of the workbook and select the cell to be linked.
Press Enter and you will see the data in Sheet1 will be exactly that as in Sheet2.
You can create formulas that link worksheets and even workbooks in the same way. I hope that helps, best regards Pete.

Excel tip:

##### displaying in Excel

When you get a series of hash symbols (####) appearing in some of your cells in a spreadsheet, this can make you think that you've make some kind of mistake.

This is a common misconception - what this actually means is that the cell is not wide enough to fully display the content of the cell.

All you need to do to see what is actually in the cell is to widen the column that the cell is in.
