Read only passwords

How do I use a password I have captured via an input box to make a workbook read only?

RE: Read only passwords

Hi Kevin,

Not quite sure what you mean here. If you're talking about password protecting a workbook, you can do this by going to File -> Save As -> Tools -> General Options -> and change 'Password to modify' field. I doubt you could use a string of characters you have captured elsewhere, unless you simply paste in the password using Control+V (on Windows).

To just make a workbook read only: right click the file in windows explorer -> Properies -> Tick 'read only' box -> Press OK.

I hope this helps. Please do reply back if you require further information. Otherwise, please mark the question as resolved.

Kind regards,
Rich

Excel tip:

Finding your worksheets quickly

The arrows to the left of the worksheets are used to move between one sheet at a time or first / last worksheet, but if you right click on the arrow buttons it gives you all worksheets in your workbook.
