Start to finish relationship

Is there a simple way to determine or remember which of the following linking relationships to use: start to finish, finish to start, start to start, finish to finish?

RE: Start to finish relationship

Hi Laura

A straightforward way of finding the right link between two tasks is first to decide which one is doing the driving or positioning of the other task on the Gantt chart. The driving task is the predecessor, the other task is your successor.

Double click on the successor and from the predecessor tab choose your driving task.

Next we need to decide the link. Ask yourself is it the start or finish of the predecessor that's doing the driving. Then does that affect the start or finish of your successor? That will guide you as to which type might be best for your tasks. Lastly you can add any lag required.

I hope this is helpful - do let us know if you need any further information.

Kind regards,

Andrew
