Hyperlinks

I have documents on sharepoint in which I have created a document library. The Library consists of hyperlinks to these documents which are very long. As this library is created in Word, is it possible to overwrite the long hyperlink names with something shorter, but still take me to the same place?

RE: Hyperlinks

Hi Ava

Thank you for your question.

If the hyperlinks are in a Word document, then you can amend the text that the hyperlink is attached to and the hyperlink should still work.

If you right-click on one of the hyperlinks, then choose Edit Hyperlink from the menu.

In the Text to display: area at the top of the dialogue box you can delete the text and replace it with the text you want displayed. Where the hyperlink points to is shown in the Address area at the bottom of the dialogue box.

I hope this helps.
Amanda

Word tip:

Keeping words together in the same line

Word will automatically wrap text itself to create new lines.

You can force Word to keep words together when they are separated by either spaces or hyphens by creating non-breaking spaces or non-breaking hyphens.

To create a non-breaking space, use Ctrl + Shift in conjunction with pressing the spacebar.

To create a non-breaking hyphen, use Ctrl + Shift in conjunction with pressing the hyphen key.

Non-breaking spaces or hyphens will not split between lines.
