Hi, I've inherited the site which I now maintain & update. I'm finding it very difficult to control formatting - successive screens which should all have the same basic layout are now slightly different - most commonly the left margin moves around, shifting everything on screen slightly to the left or right or sometimes screen elements move up or down from one screen to the next. Looking at the design view, I can't see what the problem is - I've read through manuals & web guidance without success. I find the design view is quite unpredictable anyway - grateful for any hints for getting it under control.
Hi Simon,
When using tables its is very easy for the layout to change slightly from page to page. You must ensure that each of the columns have the same width properties and that none of your content is stretching the columns above the width that you specified. If you want exact widths in your tables I would declare all the widths in pixels. Using a template can be very useful if all of your pages should look the same.
One further step would be to create a CSS layout. Each of your web-pages would then use this CSS layout, you HTML pages would only contain the content.
Hope this helps
David
