I have a documnet that containd process notes which I want the users to be able to view on the screen but when it is printed it eliminates the process notes.
Is there a way round this?

Thank you for your question.
Would it help if the process notes were inserted as comments, as then you would be able to tell Word not to display the comments before printing; and then redisplay the comments so they could be seen on screen.
To insert a comment, go to Insert - Comment.
To turn comments off, use the Reviewing toolbar, click the Show button and select Comments. Then you can print without the comments showing. Then choose Show - Comments again on the Reviewing toolbar to turn them back on.

Another thought, you could hide the text, then it won't print out.
Try this: type something in a document, select it, then go to Format - Font and under the Effects area, put a tick in the Hidden box and click OK.
Once you've done this you should find that the text you've hidden is not visible, so it won't print out. To see the text on screen, click the Show/Hide button on the Standard toolbar (to the left of the Zoom box - looks like a back-to-front P). Then you will be able to see the hidden text on screen, but if you check in Print Preview you'll see the text doesn't show therefore won't print.

Word tip:Selective highlighting...Selecting in word has improved with CTRL being added in XP for individual ranges, like in excel. If you want to select a range such as an column which has been created using tabs you could use the CTRL key and select one word at a time, but if you hold down the ALT key and then click and drag your mouse it will select wherever you drag to. This will only allow you to do 1 change though. |
