Security password

I would like to know how I can set a password for a document in Word so that it cannot be changed and is read only.

When I go to tools, protect document, security and choose read-only, you cannot change and save the document but you can type and print it out. So is there a way for the document to be completely read-only that cannot be changed at all?

RE: Security password

Hi Leena,

there are a few ways to protect a word document.

Method 1:
1) In "My documents", right click on your file -> Properties
2) Tick on "Read-Only"
3) Press OK

Method 2:
1) Open file
2) Go through what you did:
Tools Menu > Protect Document > Edit Restrictions, choose "No changes Read-Only" > Click on "Yes, Start Enforcing Protection
3) Set up a password
4) Save your file.

Hope this helps.

Katie

If you want to add random text in Word to see how formatting would look on a piece of text for exmple, type in :
