Inputting text in Excel

When I am in MS Word, hitting the enter/return key means that the cursor drops down to the next line. How do I do this in Excel? I know there is a way to do this but I have forgotten! At the moment I have to press space bar until I get to the right edge of the box.

RE: Inputting text in Excel

Alt + enter

Excel tip:

Separate the year from a date

To separate the year from a date use the =year() function, eg a date is in cell A1 and in A2 you wish to display the year enter the function =year(A1)
