How do I stop Word reformatting my document by applying new styles to pages away from the page on which I am working.
RE: Styles
Hi Nick
Thanks for your question. Happy to help - can you give me a little more information on the problem you are running into?
Thanks
Andrew
RE: Styles
Thanks for coming back to me. In a long Word doc, when I make certain formatting changes to one line (eg indent the margin, or remove bullets), major style changes are made to the whole of the document. I can often (but not always) get rid of these but retain my original change, by pressing "Redo", but the problem is infuriating and sometimes the document is reformatted without me noticing, so it becomes too late to correct the problem.

RE: Styles
Hi Nick
try the following. Go to the format menu and choose Styles and Formatting. From the list of styles that appear choose the one that seems to be automatically changing through your document and hover over its name in the list. A drop down button will appear beside the name of the style.
Click on the drop down and choose modify.
From the properties box that comes appears make sure that automatically update is *not* checked otherwise you will find that if you change one piece of text that uses this style, all the other pieces of text with this style will also update.
Hope this helps - let me know how you get on.
Andrew
