Formulas

what are the key stages of writing a formula?

RE: formulas

Hi Gerald,

Thanks for the question

The fundemental rule is to press = at the beginning, then you must put the cell ref then the operator (+ - / or *) and continue until you decide you have finished then you press enter. So for example =A1+B1+C1 (enter). Also remember excel follows the rules of BODMAS so 1+2*3 will be 7 because the multiplication comes before the addition.

If there is anything specific you would like me to help you with let me know

Tracy

Excel tip:

Hide separate columns in Excel 2010

If you want to hide columns not adjacent to each other for example, Columns A, C and E then:-

1) Click on the fist column to be hidden i.e. A

2) Press and hold down the CTRL key

3) While holding the CTRL key, left click on the rest of the columns you want to hide i.e. C and E

4) Right click and choose Hide
