Aligning number formatting in tables
Hi
Please can you give advice on how to align numbers in tables in word? I am working with a large document where the numbers need to be perfectly aligned even though they are in tables.
Thank you
RE: Aligning number formatting in tables
Hello Nina,
Thank you for your question. If simple alignment settings (left, centre or right) don't work, you could try the following two methods:
1. Select the numbers in the column, then drag the First Line Indent in the ruler (if your ruler doesn't show, go to the View ribbon, then check the Ruler box) to align the numbers. The First Line Indent is the downward-pointing triangle in the ruler. This will move the numbers left or right, keeping their current alignment.
2. You can also align the numbers on the decimal point. To do this, you need to click on the Tab Stop button on the left of the screen above the left side vertical ruler until it looks like an upside-down T with a dot. Then you click on the horizontal ruler above the page on the spot where the numbers should align. Afterwards, use the Tab or Backspace button to align the numbers by the decimal point.
I hope this answers your question.
Kind regards
