In Word 2010, Advanced course, Unit 3, Creating Forms - how do I make the forms compatible for Mac users?

RE: Word

Hi Sue

You might want to use the simpler form controls as these are supported on both versions of Word.

On Word 2010, on the Developer tab rather than add in the form controls presented on the Ribbon look for the the legacy controls button (it's in the same group as the form controls, in the lower right corner - looks like a little suitcase with a hammer and spanner)

You will find these form controls can also be added in Word 2011 on the Mac. To get to the form buttons in Word 2011 go to the Word menu and choose preferences, then choose Ribbon.

In customize - scroll down the list and tick the Developer tab. Back in the main Word 2011 screen click the Developer tab. There you will find the equivalent legacy form objects.

Microsoft have a detailed description of the process here
http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/mac-word-help/create-forms-that-users-complete-or-print-in-word-HA102929508.aspx

Let me know if this helps.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Word tip:

Shortcut keys for creating tables

There are shortcut keys you can use in Word in order to create tables.

Simply typing +-+ (plus symbol, minus symbol then plus symbol without any spaces between them), then pressing Enter creates one cell in a table.

So for example, if you require a table with three columns you would type +-+ three times with no gaps and press Enter.

Need more rows? Just click in the last cell in the table and press the Tab key.
