Embedding PDfs into Word

When embedding A4 PDF plans/maps into Word, the image becomes foggy/unclear. Possibly due to sizing?

RE: Embedding PDfs into Word

Hi Chloe

Thanks for getting in touch. When you embed a PDF into a Word document using Insert > Object, Word will scale and resample it as an image. This can lead to loss of quality.

You can avoid this by either creating the PDF at a larger resolution than you need (to give Word more room to scale down); or you can create the PDF at the size you're going to import at. So rather than A4 create a PDF that is already the correct dimensions.

Alternatively, you might want to try embedding a different format if available, as PDFs don't scale well versus a format like TIF which does not compress the image.

Kind regards
