How we would go about redacting a document on Word?

Hi Mustapha
Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately there is no built-in tool within Word to properly redact text. You can format text with a black highlight which works for printing, but someone with a digital copy can easily see the contents. You could also go the manual the route of replacing the text with [REDACTED] too.
If this is a key issue for you, consider using an unofficial plugin. It was developed by a Microsoft engineer but outside of the company, so it is not officially supported by them. It appears to be in use by many law firms and similar throughout the world. You can find it here:

As it is not supported by Microsoft, you might want to consult your IT support team for guidance before installing this.
