Page numbers
Hi there
I have an 80 page document. The first 7 pages (of the 80 pages) is the contents. I need to start my page number from page 8 which is where the actual information starts (starting with number 1). How do I do this?
Kind regards

RE: page numbers
Hello Charlotte,
Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Word Advanced course with Best STL.
Thank you for your question regarding page numbering. This is done through the Header & Footer settings.
1. If you haven't done so already, insert a section break where you want to start page numbering.
2. How?
3. Click where you want to insert a section break.
4. On the Insert menu, click Break.
5. Under Section break types, click the option that describes where you want the new section to begin.
5.1 NOTE If you have already inserted a page break to cause a chapter to start on a new page, delete the page break and replace it with a section break that starts on a new page.
6. Do any of the following:
7. Start page numbering with 1 after the first few pages
8. For example, you can omit page numbers for the document's title page or introduction, contents pages and then start page numbering later in the document.
9. Click in the section in which you want to start page numbering.
10. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
11. If you want to position the page numbers at the bottom of the page, click Switch Between Header and Footer on the Header and Footer toolbar.
12. If a header or footer has been defined for a previous section in the document, click Link to Previous on the Header and Footer toolbar to break the connection between the header or footer in the current section and the previous section.
13. If there's already text in the header or footer that you don't want, delete the text before inserting the page number.
14. On the Insert menu, click Page Numbers.
15. Choose the alignment
16. Click Format.
17. In the Start at box, enter 1
18. Click OK > Click OK
This should start page 1 from the selected page and the following pages will be numbered consecutively.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.
