Sometimes I need to apply a filter or hide some lines of my spreadsheet. However, when I do a SUM function, it sums all the lines not only the ones being shown. What can I do to sum only what is being shown after applying the filter?

Hi Simona, thanks for your query. You need to use the SUBTOTAL function to do this. Details are at the bottom of the page linked here:

Excel tip:Trace Dependents / Precedents without the blue arrowsRather than using the toolbar you can press CTRL+] which is the equivelent of trace dependants and CTRL+[ for precendants. Both of these ways though will not show the blue arrows but jump to the cell containing the formula. |
