RE: Forms

Dear Linda

Thank you for attending Word 2007 Advanced course!! I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.

To ensure that you can only have a number and not text in a field please carry out these steps:

1. Open the document where you would like the filed to appear

2. Place your cursor where you'd like the number field

3. Ensuring that the developer tab is on the Ribbon click on the developer tab.

4. In the Controls group under the legacy form section click on the text form filed button. (This should have ab written on it.

5. You should be able to see that text box become grey indicating that it is a field. If you don't see it grey then under the legacy form section please click on the form field shading button.

6. Double-click on the new field that you inserted and you should be able to see a dialog box.

7. From the Type drop down arrow choose Number and from the Number format drop down list choose the format that you would like.

8. It is very important that you protect the form by choosing Protect document and then Restrict Editing and formatting. Choose "filling in forms" from the drop down arrow of "allow only this type of editing in this document.

9. Choose Yes start enforcing protection. Entre the password that you'd like.

10. If you type in text in that field it will revert to 0 but if you type any number and click away from the field you will notice that it will have the number formatting that you choose.

I hope this has answered your query.

If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards

RE: Forms

Hello,

I have followed these steps to add numbers only to my form field.

The steps creating a form field that is shaded grey and restricts the number of characters uses works. However, letters can still be typed even though I have selected for the form field to be numbers.

Is there a suggested solution as to how to resolve this?

Thanks
Narinder

Word tip:

Changing case

Sometimes, you're typing along and don't realize that you have left on or accidently pressed the Caps Lock key. Or maybe you have typed a paragraph in all caps then decide you would prefer to have it in title case or lower case.

Word provides you with several ways of changing case quickly:

1. You can change case by selecting the text and going to Format-Change Case. You can then choose from a variety of different formats including uppercase, lower case, sentence case, toggle case, and title case.

2. The keyboard can be used to change case. Select the text then use Shift key + F3 (function key) to cycle through the options (lower case, sentence case and all caps).

3. Word has an AutoCorrect feature that corrects accidental use of the caps lock key for you. You can find this feature under Tools-AutoCorrect Options. The "Correct accidental use of the cAPS lOCK key" should be checked.
