Date Form Fields
Hi
I have inserted a form field in a letter template which will be partially protected. I have set the form field as a date, but have entered my own date format in the form field options as D/MMMM/YYYY so when people type in this field within the protected area, the date will always come out as e.g. 4 March 2009 and not 04 March 2009 etc. This works fine in the sense the date format will change to my format as apposed to other formats. But this only works fine when the user clicks or tabs to the next form field. However, if the user clicks in to the non protected area to start typing the body of the letter, having not tabbed/clicked to the next form field, the date format will not update and will stay as whatever date format they have entered therefore meaning the user MUST click or tab to the next form field in the letter to enable the date format to update.
Is there a way of getting around this to ensure if people dont tab to the next form field and go straight to the non protected area, that the date does update its format?
Thanks
RE: Date Form Fields
Hi Katie
Thank you for your question. I have checked it appears that Tab is required to trigger the formatting.
An alternative to using forms could be to create a custom dialogue box that asks for the date when the user opens the document. Once the user clicks OK the date is put into the document with the correct format.
To set this up would require some VBA programming within the document template.
We can offer Excel (and Access) VBA public schedule courses as well as one to one onsite VBA training specifically on Word. For an example of the topics we cover take a look at our Excel VBA syllabus: https://www.stl-training.co.uk/excel-course-in-london-2003-vba.php
I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
Andrew
