Excel Formatting

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to modify a row's colour based on one of its cell's values. I have a list of scores for staff and i would like to automatically highlight each row of information based on that person's score.

Is this possible and if so, how?

Thanks for the question.

In order to accomplish this you need to use conditional formatting based on a formula.

1. Select the first row in your table
2. Click on Formatting - Conditional Formatting
3. In the "cell value is" combo select "Formula is"
4. Type in a formula that reflects the criteria you want to use. For example =A3>10 would apply the format to any row where cell in column A is greater than 10
5. Then click on the format button to apply the colours that you want
6. Then click OK
Now all you need to do is copy the formats down through the whole table
7. To do this select the table row you have formatted and right click on the bottom right hand corner of the range, hold the right button down and drag down to the bottom row
8. Let go of the button and you will be presented with a context menu, from here select copy formatting

This will then apply the formatting as required

Hi Dan

This is possible I would need to get a bit more info to tell you exactly how to do it, but you would use conditional formating to solve your problem.

Highlight the row you want to format and click on Format/Conditional formatting. The drop downs are logical and you can click on the format button to change the colours. Give that a play and see how you get on otherwise give me an example of a row and I'll try give you a more exact answer.

Hi there David,

I have had a go but the software seems to be treating the entire row as a range. Here is an example of a row which in this case has the end score of 100:


112 Abdigalym Makhmut, 10682738, 13900 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 100

Creating Quick Column Charts

Select the information you want to appear in the chart and press F11. This creates a new chart on a seperate worksheet.
