Document Map

I wish someone can help me from this annoying problem in Word 2007.

Sometimes, the document map will automatically mess up with the captions of figures, tables, and even text with Normal style. All I can do is manually set these as Normal again. However, the problem may repeat.

I dont know whether I miss any advanced set up hiding somewhere. But this little thing bother me frequently.

Thank you in advance!

RE: Document Map

Hi Alex

Thank you for your question.

This may possibly be arising because of how the captions are set up in styles.

Please see the link below as it seems that others have had issues with the document map in 2007 as well. Have a read through the suggestions - hopefully one of them will help you.

RE: Document Map

Amanda,
I can temporarily solve the problem by selecting the whole document and right click then choose paragraph, change the outline level to "body text".
However, this can not be saved. It will come back next time I open the document.

Word tip:

Multiple Cut and Pastes in MS Word

If you need to cut and paste more than one selection into a document, you don't need to Cut & Paste repeatedly, just use the built in SPIKE feature.

To use; you can Cut two or more items from nonadjacent locations. This adds those items to the Spike's contents. Then paste the items as a group in a new location or document. The items remain in the Spike so you can insert them repeatedly. If you want to add a different set of items to the Spike, you must first empty the Spike's contents.

Here's how to do it:
Step 1: To move an item to the Spike, select the text or graphic you want, and then press CTRL+F3. You can repeat this step for each additional item you want to move to the Spike.

Step 2: Place your cursor where you want to insert the Spike's contents.

Step 3: select keystroke CTRL+SHIFT+F3 to insert and empty the Spike's contents
