Excel Intermediate course

Paste

I often have 2 Excel screens open on my pc (opened as separate applications).
If I try to copy data from one Excel file to paste in another, Excel will only allow me to paste in bit map (or other image) format rather than as data.
How do I solve this?
Thanks

RE: Paste

Hi Neil, Thank you for the post, welcome to the forum, in response to your question...

I am having problems replicating your difficulty, as a norm Excel is totally compatible with Excel and you should therefore be able to cut/copy and paste (even drag and drop from one file to another) with impunity.
However if this is not working, and in your case it seems not to be; I can only assume you are using the Insert>Object, Browse and Link option, this is creating an embedded file which requires you to double click to edit. If I am wrong, please come back and we can try something else. regards Pete

Excel tip:

The Easiest Way to See a Sum or Average in Excel 2010

Did you know the quickest and most simple way of working out the average or sum of a set of numbers?

Highlight numbers in cells or type some numbers in cells and then look at the status bar at the bottom of the window. Here you will see a display of the average of the numbers, as well as a count of the cells and the sum of these cells.
