Excel Advanced course
Do many people find the conditional formula options useful in presenting to sen. management and is it generally accepted to use formating rules to illustrate trends?
Dear Jason
Thank you for attending Excel 2007 Advanced course. I hope you enjoyed the course and are finding the topics covered during the training useful.
The answer to your question depends from one organisation to another or individual to another.
As long as the user doesn't go over the board and makes the spreadsheet too flashy it should be acceptable. Please bear in mind that the whole purpose of conditional formatting is to make quick decisions and also to see trends. If it was not acceptable I am sure that Microsoft wouldn't have had it as one of its MS excel feature!! And I am sure that you will agree with me that in Excel 2007 the data can be very visual and effective in decision making by the senior Mgt.
If you are in any doubt it is best to provide a soft copy via e-mail or shared network drive to the person the report is intended for and then get their authorization to be printed if necessary.
I hope this answers your question.
I am a bit confused as to why you have the subject as VLookup but the question is related to Conditional Formatting. I guess you changed your mind after writing the subject!!
If this has answered your questions may I request you to mark this post as resolved!!
Many thanks
Kindest Regards
