Protecting sheets

how do you prevent someone from changing one of your documents?

RE: protecting sheets

In excel go to tools, protection and there you can protect the sheet or workbook. You can add a password if required or leave blank. If you leave blank then anyone can go in and take the protection off from the same menu. If you use a password they will have to know the password. In windows explorer you can right click on a file, choose properties and make the file read only from there.
